Arts, Crafts, Sculptors and Artists in Bristol

Bristol's Proximity to the sea and to the countryside offer ample inspiration for artists both from the local area and people visiting. What is more the city is only a short drive from many more picturesque locations in Wales and the south of England and so is ideal for an artists holiday. There is no shortage of art already in the city though. To begin with it is home to Royal west of England Academy which claims Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as a patron. The academy exhibits a variety of art in all mediums, unfortunately however it is only open when hosting an actual exhibit so be aware that you may need to check it's open before you visit. Another national gallery in the area is the Clifton Gallery of fine art that exhibits work by artists from all over the country. Local art on the other hand tends to exhibited in the smaller galleries spread throughout the city, perhaps the best example of which is the Mivar artist gallery. This city centre building is home to a variety of artists displaying and selling their work in a variety of mediums. This gallery is well worth a visit for casual tourists and art lovers alike.
